Using Double Bass Drums is a great way to enhance your playing and over all sound. It opens the doors to many tonal opportunities, which can also expand to other feet options like playing the high hat with your right foot, mounting cowbells and tambourines to bass drum foot pedals, remote hihats and bass drums, and electronic triggers.

Let's begin with this simple pattern, then go through many of the following patterns and instead of playing then with your hands substitute them and play the patterns with your feet.


Let's talk about phrasing, play the following phrase on one drum. After you get the feel of the phrase play the tied notes on long tone instruments like cymbals and open Hi Hats. You can accent the tied notes by playing bass drum or snare together with cymbals. Next play the phrase using different drums. This is a Rock Feel Phrase.

Build up Sextuplets, Practice at 100 beats per minute 10 times each line

Practice Slowly, Repeat.

Play on Floor Tom accent on Snare Drum.

Replace Accent with High Hat, Cymbal, Cowbell, or Other Drum Sound.

Then replace right hand with right bass drum.
